What is leadership?

Extensive research studies show time and again that what managers do (or don’t do!) impacts staff morale, motivation and retention. The Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) paper Driving Employee Performance and Retention through Engagement shows that of the top fifty levers of discretionary effort, thirty-six of those are line manager activities.
